The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is a small, flexible charity, established in 1977 to honour to memory of a famous Naturalist, David Leslie William Sheldrick MBE, the founder Warden of Tsavo East National Park in Kenya, where he served from its inception in 1948 until his transfer to Nairobi in 1976 to head the Planning Unit of the newly created Wildlife Conservation & Management Department. David died 6 months later but his legacy of excellence and the systems he installed for the management of Tsavo and wildlife generally in Kenya, particularly in the sphere of wildlife husbandry and ethics, lives on. Broadway is about to get a little more of Uncle Jesse, Maddie, and Charlotte when John Stamos, Cybill Shepherd, and Kristin Davis join the cast of the twice-extended revival of Gore Vidal’s The Best Man.
The newcomers to the show will step into the roles currently played by Eric McCormack, Candice Bergen and Kerry Butler, respectively, when the trio departs on July 8. Elizabeth Ashley will also step into the play, replacing Angela Lansbury beginning on July 24.
Although The Best Man failed to take home a trophy at this year’s Tony Awards, the politically-charged play–about two mudslinging presidential candidates vying for endorsements at their party’s national convention–has seen steady grosses and an average 85-percent house capacity since its opening in April. The production has extended its limited engagement twice already, but is scheduled to end its run on September 9.
Current stars John Larroquette, James Earl Jones, and Jefferson Mays are set to remain with the production until it closes. (Source)
International relief and development organization Oxfam America is teaming up with Kristin Davis this Mother’s Day to show appreciation of moms in our lives by giving back to others with a gift from Oxfam America Unwrapped.
“The mothers we know and love deserve more than one day of praise for the incredible contribution they make toward improving our world,” said Kristin. “This year, give the mom in your life a gift that will continue changing lives for years to come.”
As an Oxfam Ambassador, Kristin Davis has seen firsthand the impact these gifts have on mothers and their families. A water jug ($18) can help a family store and transport clean drinking water; a vegetable garden ($30) can help a mother jumpstart a small business and provide security for her children; or you can help restore a pre-school ($35) so a mother can comfortably send her children off to grow and learn in safety. There are over 70 life-changing products to choose from at OxfamGifts.com.
“What better way to honor a mother in your life than to help a family in need,” said Stephanie Kurzina, vice president for fundraising and communications at Oxfam America. “With a gift from Oxfam America Unwrapped, you can say ‘thanks mom’ in a truly meaningful way.”
Oxfam America’s Unwrapped catalog offers items that symbolically represent the organization’s lifesaving work, and each purchase is a contribution toward Oxfam’s many programs that help people living in poverty throughout the world. All gift contributions are general donations to support Oxfam America’s mission of fighting poverty, hunger and social injustice in over 90 countries around the world. Gifts are fully tax-deductible. Warner Bros has announced Journey 2: The Mysterious Island will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D on June 5th. The film stars Josh Hutcherson, Vanessa Hudgens, Michael Caine, Kristin Davis, Luis Guzman and Dwayne Johnson. No official word on what (if any) the specials will include.
In the second action adventure movie, Hutcherson’s Sean Anderson receives a coded distress signal from a island where an island shouldn’t exist. Together with his new stepfather, a helicopter pilot and his beautiful but strong-willed daughter, Sean must find the island to rescue its lone inhabitant and escape before seismic shockwaves force the island under the sea. Along the way, they encounter strange lifeforms, mountains of gold, deadly volcanoes and lots of secrets.

Actress and Global Ambassador for Oxfam Kristin Davis is in Washington this week. She met with members of Congress to lobby them on reforming the Food Aid portion of the Farm Bill which must be reauthorized by September. The Sex and the City star spoke to The Hill’s Comment Editor Emmanuel Touhey about the need for reform, her visits to refugee camps in Africa and what she hopes to accomplish on her first visit to Capitol Hill. Here’s a clip of that interview.
Kristin Davis is happy as a first time mom to her adopted daughter Gemma Rose, but she’s not quite ready to expand her family further.
“I had never thought about it because I was so kind of worried about the first,” Kristin told Anderson Cooper during an interview for Thursday’s “Anderson” when he asked if she wanted to adopt again. “Once she came I was like, ‘Hey I can do this, this is OK.’ So I mull it over, but because I’m a single mom, I want to focus on her and make sure I’m doing a good job first.”
Kristin’s Sex and The City character, Charlotte, adopted her first daughter too – and named her Rose, but the actress said the name was just a coincidence.
“I had totally forgotten that on ‘Sex and the City’ I also had a child named Rose and since I did this whole thing in secret I didn’t talk to anybody about the naming or the adopting at all and I didn’t realize the connection. Then we announced and everybody was like, ‘Oh, she named her after her ‘Sex and The City’ baby,’” Kristin said. “I didn’t even consciously [realize it], not at all, not at all. I almost named her Rose as a first name because I kept thinking it’s such a beautiful name. Isn’t it weird? I think it was lodged unconsciously.”
While there appear to be no immediate plans for Sex and The City 3, Kristin said she keeps in touch with her old co-stars – Kim Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon.
“We are pretty much family at this point. We have worked together for something really crazy, like 15 years,” she said.
“I was here in December, I saw Kim on Broadway. I took my baby and I saw Sarah’s babies. I took my baby and saw Cynthia’s babies. Cynthia’s on Broadway now and I’m going to see her next week. The writers — we all are friends,” Kristin added.
Kristin said when she does see her pals, they don’t share cosmo cocktails.
“I don’t drink, it’s true,” she told Anderson. “We go out sometimes, but it’s kind of challenging to go out. People have kind of a panic reaction, it’s just really odd. They’re like, ‘Oh My God.’”
And Kristin also confessed she and SJP once attempted to go out, only to realize their activity of choice could have created “SATC” fan pandemonium.
“One time, Sarah and I went shoe shopping and we were like, ‘What we’re we thinking? This is not going to work out.’ So we had to leave,” she said. “We tend to kind of gather at our homes, it’s a little easier.”
Earlier today, Kristin attended the Oxfam Sisters On The Planet Summit Keynote event in Washington, DC. Kristin was all smiles at the event and as usual, she looked absolutely lovely! Head over to the gallery for the latest additions.
