“We Need to Reform Food Aid” Says Kristin

Actress and Global Ambassador for Oxfam Kristin Davis is in Washington this week. She met with members of Congress to lobby them on reforming the Food Aid portion of the Farm Bill which must be reauthorized by September. The Sex and the City star spoke to The Hill’s Comment Editor Emmanuel Touhey about the need for reform, her visits to refugee camps in Africa and what she hopes to accomplish on her first visit to Capitol Hill. Kristin Appeared on “Anderson” and Talked “Sex and the City”

Kristin Davis is happy as a first time mom to her adopted daughter Gemma Rose, but she’s not quite ready to expand her family further.
“I had never thought about it because I was so kind of worried about the first,” Kristin told Anderson Cooper during an interview for Thursday’s “Anderson” when he asked if she wanted to adopt again. “Once she came I was like, ‘Hey I can do this, this is OK.’ So I mull it over, but because I’m a single mom, I want to focus on her and make sure I’m doing a good job first.”
Kristin’s Sex and The City character, Charlotte, adopted her first daughter too – and named her Rose, but the actress said the name was just a coincidence.
“I had totally forgotten that on ‘Sex and the City’ I also had a child named Rose and since I did this whole thing in secret I didn’t talk to anybody about the naming or the adopting at all and I didn’t realize the connection. Then we announced and everybody was like, ‘Oh, she named her after her ‘Sex and The City’ baby,’” Kristin said. “I didn’t even consciously [realize it], not at all, not at all. I almost named her Rose as a first name because I kept thinking it’s such a beautiful name. Isn’t it weird? I think it was lodged unconsciously.”
While there appear to be no immediate plans for Sex and The City 3, Kristin said she keeps in touch with her old co-stars – Kim Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon.
“We are pretty much family at this point. We have worked together for something really crazy, like 15 years,” she said.
“I was here in December, I saw Kim on Broadway. I took my baby and I saw Sarah’s babies. I took my baby and saw Cynthia’s babies. Cynthia’s on Broadway now and I’m going to see her next week. The writers — we all are friends,” Kristin added.
Kristin said when she does see her pals, they don’t share cosmo cocktails.
“I don’t drink, it’s true,” she told Anderson. “We go out sometimes, but it’s kind of challenging to go out. People have kind of a panic reaction, it’s just really odd. They’re like, ‘Oh My God.’”
And Kristin also confessed she and SJP once attempted to go out, only to realize their activity of choice could have created “SATC” fan pandemonium.
“One time, Sarah and I went shoe shopping and we were like, ‘What we’re we thinking? This is not going to work out.’ So we had to leave,” she said. “We tend to kind of gather at our homes, it’s a little easier.”

International Women’s Day Oxfam Event

More than 70 powerful women from around the US and the world, including actor Kristin Davis (Sex and the City), former Haitian Prime Minister Michelle Pierre-Louis, Top Chef Masters competitor Mary Sue Milliken and many more, will join international relief and development organization Oxfam America for a Sisters on the Planet Summit on March 7 to mark International Women’s Day.
The women will also meet with Members of Congress to advocate for policies that support women farmers around the world.
Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama and Chair of the White House Council on Women and Girls, will offer keynote remarks to the morning gathering. An award ceremony and reception in the evening will honor Kristin Davis for her work to raise awareness on global hunger and poverty.
The following day, International Women’s Day, women leaders including former high ranking government officials, civil society leaders and veterans and farmers from across the country, will take to Capitol Hill to advocate for reforms to the US food aid program in the Farm Bill that will save money and lives.

“Sex and the City” Prequel Given the Green Light

A prequel TV series for Sex and the City, which follows Carrie Bradshaw’s teenage years and her early days as a writer, has been given the go ahead in US. It is based on ‘Sex and the City’ author Candace Bushnell’s novel The Carrie Diaries, set in New York.
TV network, CW, has confirmed it will pilot the new programme and the show will focus on Sarah Jessica Parker’s character and her life before she met her friends. The character’s high school life in Manhattan will see her asking questions about love, sex, friendship and family, the BBC reported.
Casting for the series has yet to be confirmed. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Blake Lively, from ‘Gossip Girl’, and Miley Cyrus are in the running to play a young Carrie Bradshaw.
The CW prequel is being written by Amy Harris, who worked on HBO’s original.
The film Sex and the City, starring all the original characters, won many awards in 2008. The 2010 sequel, which was panned by critics, went on to make 288 million dollars at the global box office. (Source)
