“He was the Sharkboy, and I played the mother of the other kid who imagined Sharkboy and Lavagirl in Robert Rodriguez’s movie, and I met him down in Texas. He was a kid and he didn’t have those muscles, and I don’t know what happened. I see these pictures [now and] I can’t believe it. I feel protective, like what is he doing without his shirt on? And then I hear he’s dating people and I’m like, ‘Ahh!'”

Eighties outfits? Appearances by Penélope Cruz, Miley Cyrus and Liza Minnelli? Little by little, the secrets of the sequel to the Sex and the City movie are leaking out, and style guru Patricia Field is filling PEOPLE in. WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW.
So what was the real story behind those ’80s outfits that Sarah Jessica Parker and her three pals were dressed in – and widely seen in photos from a shoot on the streets of the Big Apple?
“It was in the beginning of the movie,” Field explained. “Carrie was waiting to meet her girlfriends and she was thinking about when she first moved to New York in the ’80s and how she met Samantha and Charlotte. They’re all, in real time, meeting to go shopping. And in her flashback time, she is thinking of when she first met each one of them.”
What’s with the guest appearances by Cruz, Minnelli and Cyrus? Cyrus recently filmed a scene with Kim Cattrall, where the two ostensibly showed up to a movie premiere in matching outfits.
“That’s in the story line, but I’m not going to tell that one,” Field teases. “But, it’s fun. Miley’s a very good character. She’s a really nice girl. She’s happy and with it! She’s a very cool girl.”
Road to Morocco
What about the films’ increasingly exotic locales? After all, in the first movie, Carrie and friends fled Gotham for Mexico after Mr. Big stood her up at the altar. The new movie doesn’t disappoint, Field promises, saying they’ll be visiting Morocco.
“[We’re shooting] there for about six weeks,” she said. “You’ll probably see belly dancers and Bedouins!”
But Field zips her lip when it comes to the biggest question of all: Will Carrie be expecting a baby?
“I don’t know,” she says. “You’re going to have to see for yourself because then what’s the fun?”
After much speculation and a semi-confirmation from Miley Cyrus about her upcoming cameo in the “Sex and the City” sequel, photos emerged over the weekend that confirm that Cyrus will in fact have a role in the movie. Cyrus was seen on the set on October 16, filming a scene in which she wears the same dress on a red carpet as Kim Cattrall’s character, Samantha Jones. According to reports that surfaced in September about the cameo, Samantha chooses the dress for the event in order to look “hot and young.”
In the scene, Cattrall and Cyrus, who plays herself, are wearing the sparkly strapless gold dress paired with tan knee-high boots. Miley accessorizes her dress with a spiked necklace, while Jones pairs hers with a big topaz asymmetrical choker. According to Us Weekly, the characters are attending the premiere of “Heart of the Desert,” the latest film starring Smith (Jason Lewis), Samantha’s on-again, off-again boyfriend, at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York. Sarah Jessica Parker and Chris Noth were also spotted on the set that day.
Cyrus reportedly won’t have any lines in the film, but that has yet to be confirmed. During the scene, the outspoken Anthony (Mario Cantone) reportedly responds with, “Mother of God. She is wearing the same dress as Hannah Montana.”
The film is set to hit theaters in May 2010; Penélope Cruz and Liza Minnelli also have reported cameos in the flick. Back in September, when MTV News asked Cyrus about rumors of her appearance, she asked her publicist, “Can we talk about that?” She then replied by saying, “Ah, zipped tight.”
New Line has confirmed that Project Runway’s Tim Gunn will appear in the Sex and the City sequel. (E Online first reported the story.) Gunn is currently shooting in New York City and will play himself. This isn’t the first time that Gunn has worked with Sarah Jessica Parker; she appeared as a guest judge on Project Runway in 2007.
Penelope Cruz, Liza Minnelli and Jason Lewis have all recently shot scenes for the sequel, as well.

Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau were a hoot as a pair of single guys in indie comedy Swingers. Thirteen years on, they’ve co-written a comedy about pals who have grown up and married off – but it feels like a less honest, more commercially motivated endeavour.
Four chummy couples fly off to an exotic Pacific island. Only divorcebound Jason (Jason Bateman) and Cynthia (Kristen Bell) are signed up for the ‘couples skill-building’ sessions that then turn out to be compulsory for all.
There’s enjoyable observational humour: parents will recognise stressful scenarios such as children peeing in showroom toilets. But when the eight-strong group (also including Kristin Davis and Malin Akerman, pictured with Vaughn) hit the beach, the script becomes more interested in strung-out set-pieces and laddish (or rather, mannish) humour. Individually many of these actors have charm but crammed together they barely have room to breathe. Men and women are reduced to stereotypes, and Peter Serafinowicz and Jean Reno are wasted in one-note roles.
Vaughn manages to grab more screen time to showcase his charisma but do we really need to watch his midlife crisis unfold over the course of nearly two hours?

The celebrity guest appearances keep on coming for the sequel to the blockbuster Sex and the City film. OK! has learned that Penélope Cruz is the latest A-lister to hop on the Sex and the City 2 bandwagon. The Oscar-winner just filmed a cameo appearance, playing herself on the red carpet.
And while Beyoncé won’t be in the film, her hit song “Single Ladies” will be. OK! has confirmed that stage and screen legend Liza Minnelli sings the song at the wedding of Stanford (Willie Garson) and Anthony (Mario Cantone) — the same wedding where Sarah Jessica Parker plays the best man!.
OK! can also confirm that Miley Cyrus, who had talked openly about wanting to play a young SJP in the rumored prequel, will indeed be filming a cameo in the movie later this week.

Friday night box-office results are in, and Couples Retreat reigns supreme.
1. “Couples Retreat” ($12.3 million)
2. “Zombieland” ($4.75 million)
3. “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” ($3.1 million)
4. “Toy Story” & “Toy Story 2″ (3-D Double Feature) ($2.54 million)
5. “Paranormal Activity” ($2 million)
The cheese stands alone as the Vince Vaughn-starring “Couples Retreat,” the weekend’s only new wide release, debuted on Friday in an expected first place finish at the box office. “Couples Retreat” marks the directorial debut of Peter Billingsley, who is most famous for his childhood portrayal of Ralphie in the classic “A Christmas Story” — apparently, Billingsley didn’t shoot his eye out, because his directorial vision resulted in an $11.5 million Friday opening according to the numbers from Deadline Hollywood Daily.
Still, “Couples Retreat” will have to fight to maintain this top spot in the weeks to come, thanks to poor word of mouth on the film. The reviews have been mediocre at best despite the all-star comedy team of Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau and more. For now, the joke is on theatergoers as “Retreat” is on target for a projected $28 million weekend.
Sony Pictures might have lost the top seat, but the tag-team of “Zombieland” and “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” still claimed the next highest spots at the box office with $4.8 million and $3 million, respectively. The “Meatballs” train might finally be losing some steam, allowing the “Toy Story” 3-D double feature a very close $2 million Friday in fourth place.
The real surprise story, however, is “Paranormal Activity,” the Oren Peli-directed horror film currently touted as “the scariest movie of all time.” Whether or not the film actually lives up to that description, the Paramount-distributed “Paranormal Activity” could be quite scary for rival studios — the ghost-filled thriller earned an amazing $1.3 million on Friday night in only 159 theaters.
“Paramount is going to make a ton of cash on this pickup,” a rival studio executive told Deadline Hollywood. “They ain’t spending anything on it, and who knows where the ceiling is!”
