Kim Cattrall, who recently appeared in an ad politely asking tourists to visit British Columbia, Canada, says that Sex and the City has single-handily changed the movie industry’s view of women. Cattrall just wrapped up production on Sex and the City 2 and called the franchise “refreshing.”
But being a part of a popular series, both on TV and in film, can take a toll on one’s personal life.

Sarah Jessica Parker may be missing the premiere of “Sex and the City 2″ — and it’s not because the actress is too busy or has better things to do. Carrie Bradshaw’s alter ego has donated her tickets to the event to the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual) cause in an auction for $11,000! Hollywood Life reports that the tickets were auctioned off at the Human Rights Campaign’s 9th annual gala at NYC’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Feb. 6. Sarah Jessica was not the only star on hand at the event who took part in the auction. “Ugly Betty” star Michael Urie auctioned off a dinner date with himself (kisses included!). “Real Housewives of New York City” mother hen Jill Zarin and “Project Runway” mentor Tim Gunn donated a joint day of lunch and shopping to the highest bidder. Jill was introduced as “the LGBT community’s favorite housewife” and kicked off the event by expressing her support of the cause. “I can’t stand the fact the LGBT Americans are still being treated like second class citizens,” she declared, garnering cheers and applause from the crowd. Sarah Jessica Parker’s twins won’t be the newest star kids to need a babysitter for the Sex and the City 2 premiere on May 28, but they’ll still be the youngest. Willie Garson, known better as Stanford Blatch in the television and movie series, finalized his adoption of 8-year-old Nathen on Wednesday, People reports. The current White Collar star began the adoption process in October 2007 through the Alliance for Children’s Rights and Westside Children’s Center and started the paperwork to become Nathen’s legal guardian a year ago.

The mush of Couples Retreat was predictable. When Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn collaborated on Swingers 14 years ago, they were young, edgy and ready to rumble. Now they are softer, too successful and drowning in the pool of sentimentality. Couples Retreat is a romantic comedy sending four troubled Chicago couples to a gorgeous South Seas retreat on a half-price vacation. The hitch is that they have to endure a couples counselling program run by mad social scientist Jean Reno. What we endure is a wildly uneven movie, lurching from punch lines to pathos to putrid comic set-ups to sappy stuff about the work that relationships require. Favreau and Vaughn, who co-wrote with Dana Fox, play two of the guys, along with Jason Bateman and Faizon Love. Femme talent includes Malin Akerman, Kristin Bell and Kristin Davis. While they have their moments, they all could do better than this. Couples Retreat debuts on DVD and Blu-ray in a rare Friday release, Canada only. The U.S. doesn’t get it until Tuesday. The DVD and Blu-ray share most routine extras, including gag reel, extended therapy sessions and the joys and/or challenges of filming in remote Bora Bora. Blu-ray adds two extra deleted scenes, offers the commentary as picture-in-picture and provides a digital copy for mobile devices. The best bits among extras involve Vaughn, who is both sincere and sweet. (Source) |

Movie bosses of Sex and the City have slammed reports of a third film in in the hit franchise and insisted they are not expanding the series in the coming times. The New Line Cinema executives admit that there are no plans for a third movie installment, Contactmusic reported. “This is not true,” a company spokesperson said in a statement. A sequel to their original big-screen hit of 2008 is due out later this year which stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon. The fashionable foursome had become global TV stars after starring in the original Sex and the City series from 1998 until 2004. Meanwhile, Cattrall has suggested there may be a third Sex and the City film “as long as we have stories to tell”. The 53-year-old actress suggested that the film versions of the original television series may continue on past a second outing. “It was fantastic. I think as long as we have stories to tell. It was very interesting because we did this series for six years and we ended it at the exact right moment, we didn’t repeat ourselves. “I think we’ll tell stories as long as they are there to tell.” The star, who plays man-eater Samantha Jones in the movie, also confirmed that shooting had wrapped on the second film. The movie adaptation of their second outing, Sex and the City 2, will hit cinemas in May this year. (Source) |

The aging stars of “Sex and the City” are filming their last two movies back-to-back to ensure they look as young as possible, The Sun reported on Wednesday. A sequel to the original “Sex and the City” movie, based on the popular television series, is due out later this year and a source told The Sun that Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, who are all in their 40s as well as Kim Cattrall, 53 are already filming the third and last movie in the series.
Even before she agreed to do the first film, Jessica Parker, who played Carrie Bradshaw in the movie and television series, was worried about reprising her TV role. Speaking in 2006 she said: “I’ve told my agent I’m just too old to play the part again.” Regardless she was persuaded to sign on for the movie, as were her three other co-stars. “‘Sex and the City’ is as much about fashion – and how Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte look – as it is about the plot,” the source said. |
