Since Sarah Jessica Parker’s pop-culture legacy is so tied to her portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City and its two movies, MTV New scaught up with Parker at the Cannes Film Festival and asked her to comment on the rumors about a “SATC” prequel, as well as her thoughts on returning to the famed role of Ms. Bradshaw one more time.

“I think it always comes down to story and what is the story people want to tell,” Bradshaw said of the rumored adaptations of “The Carrie Diaries.” “Obviously, I feel proprietary in the best possible way about that entire franchise as it were, but I think there are lots of talented storytellers and obviously lots of talented actors who might be a part of it. I think, like anything, you base your opinion on material and content, and I think that would be the only way for any of us to have an opinion.”

Regarding a future “SATC” installment, be it on the big screen or small, Parker revealed that there might be another tale to tell.

“I think there is perhaps one more small, important story to tell,” she said. “Whether or not we choose to do that and when we choose to do that remains, obviously, the unknown, but it’s nice to ponder.”

One more story, huh? We mentioned that it sounded like Parker has that specific story in her head.

“I don’t, but somebody else does,” she said with a knowing smile.

Kristin Davis was touched to receive a handwritten card from Dame Elizabeth Taylor. The legendary actress – who died last month at the age of 79 – wrote to all the main cast members of Sex and the City after the TV series named a dog after her in the sixth and final season in 2004.

Kristin – whose character Charlotte York Goldenblatt was the owner of the pooch – told TV show ‘Live! with Regis and Kelly’:

“The wonderful thing about our show. was we had such wonderful support from the entertainment industry and our writer Michael Patrick King. had gone to Elizabeth Taylor and asked her about the whole storyline, because remember it was the dog and Charlotte had a miscarriage and she’s watching the life story of Elizabeth and that kind of gives her the gumption to get back up and face life and go on with her life.

“Elizabeth had been so sweet and she said, ‘Of course,’ and she sent us all gifts, and she sent us a handwritten card. And I just remember holding that card and thinking, ‘Elizabeth Taylor wrote this to me!’ It was just so generous and warm and wonderful and how you dream that all of those people are gonna be.”

Kristin says Elizabeth’s kindness surpassed all their expectations. She said: “When things like that happen – people that you’ve grown up watching – and they’re so generous and kind of better than you would expect them to be, it’s a wonderful thing.”

That makes two of ‘em. First Sarah Jessica Parker let it be known that she doesn’t think the idea of a rumored Sex and the City prequel is such a hot idea. Now her co-star on the big and small screen, Kristin Davis, has joined her in putting down the rumored project.

“Not so into the prequel movie,” she told E! Online. “Because we’re us and we’ve discussed our history in the show already so for all of our fervent fans who listen to what we say, why would we rewrite that? And then have like different people with our names? It’s kind of freaky.”

Earlier this month, reports suggested that studio execs were discussing an adaptation of The Carrie Diaries, Candace Bushnell’s 2010 novel that follows Carrie Bradshaw before she arrived in the Big Apple. Writer/director Michael Patrick King was said to be eying Blake Lively to take on the Bradshaw role in what was described as not an ’80s flashback flick, but a more contemporary vision of the character’s younger selves. Lively has since denied she’d be starring in the film.

While the first “Sex and the City” movie became an international smash hit in 2008, grossing over $400 million at the worldwide box office, last summer’s follow-up ended up a critical punching bag and failed to cross the $100 million mark domestically. Nonetheless, Parker and Davis are holding out hope for a third film.

“I don’t think we can pretend to go back. It’s creating two histories,” Parker told the Los Angeles Times of the prequel idea, but added of a third film featuring the established cast, “I think there’s one more story to tell. I know there is.”

Said Davis, “I’m always hopeful, and I always believe there’s another story to tell because these are these women’s lives, so why wouldn’t there be another chapter. [But] I don’t know if it will happen.”

Sarah Jessica Parker has enjoyed a steady stream of roles since making Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw an icon, but she said in a new interview that she’d be on board for a third movie in the series. Kristin Davis told us she thought another was unlikely, but SJP isn’t ruling it out. She said:

“I would go back. I think there’s one more story to tell. I know there is. I’d definitely tell that [third] story, and I know Michael [Patrick King, writer and director] would do it right. But maybe not now. Maybe in five years, you know?”

Kim Cattrall has admitted that she misses spending time with her Sex And The City co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.

The actress, who played man-eater Samantha Jones on the series, told Extra that she hasn’t seen her three co-stars in quite some time, adding: “I miss the girls.”

Cattrall further explained that she is unsure if Sex And The City will be revived for a third feature film because all four actresses are pursuing other projects.

“We’ve all been so busy since the show ended, privately and professionally,” she said.

Sex And The City ran for six seasons on HBO before spawning a big screen continuation in 2008 and last year’s sequel. Last fall, Cattrall’s castmate Davis stated that there are no current plans to film a third movie. (Source)
