The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is a small, flexible charity, established in 1977 to honour to memory of a famous Naturalist, David Leslie William Sheldrick MBE, the founder Warden of Tsavo East National Park in Kenya, where he served from its inception in 1948 until his transfer to Nairobi in 1976 to head the Planning Unit of the newly created Wildlife Conservation & Management Department. David died 6 months later but his legacy of excellence and the systems he installed for the management of Tsavo and wildlife generally in Kenya, particularly in the sphere of wildlife husbandry and ethics, lives on. Supermodel Helena Christensen and Sex and the City actress Kristin Davis are among the celebrities who have shared their emotional experiences of visiting those displaced by war or other factors beyond their control to support the UN Refugee Agency’s (UNHCR) initiative World Refugee Day on 20 June.
Kristin, a long-time supporter of UNHCR visited Uganda, and said: “When I was visiting refugees with UNHCR I was introduced to Fiona Taba. This was a high point in my trip because Fiona is so full of life and such a success story.”
Kristin Davis spoke of the “resilience and strength” she saw while visiting refugees
She added: “After becoming a refugee from South Adidas at only 15, she has been able to build her own tailoring business in Uganda. She is such a shining example of the resilience and strength I’ve seen when visiting refugees.”
The UNCHR was created in 1950 with the mandate to “lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide.” At a time when the number of forcibily displaced people across the globe has risen to record numbers, Helena explained the importance of telling the world these stories. “I had the privilege of meeting some incredibly courageous, but very vulnerable women,” she said of her trip to the South American country of Colombia.
“As a photographer, it was an extraordinary opportunity traveling to Colombia, spending time in communities there, talking to women and documenting their lives – using photography to tell their stories.
“One of the women I met and photographed was Maribeth Palacio. Maribeth was only seven years old when she was displaced from the department of Choco on the pacific coast as armed guards shot and killed her mother and sister. She fled and has never returned to her home town – ‘I am too afraid and it has been too long’. “Maribeth has a dream of opening her own traditional choco restaurant in Bogota and running more dance classes for the local children.”
On the day in 2009 that Kristin Davis helped rescue an abandoned elephant calf while on safari in Kenya, she fell in love with African elephants and became a huge supporter of The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. When babies are separated from their mothers, TDSWT protects the orphaned elephants from poachers and reintegrates them into their herds and natural habitats.

Director and writer Michael Patrick King has told Entertainment Weekly that he largely agrees with Sara Jessica Parker that there might be “one last Sex and the City chapter to tell”, as the actor told Instyle magazine in January.
“Sarah Jessica and I both know what that final chapter is,” King said. “That doesn’t mean it will or should be told, but I do think there’s one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation. But there’s four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven’t even been written yet.”
He added: “It’s all really about the stories, and if you actually think you have something left to say that would make it exciting and worthwhile for the fans’ time – that’s really the question. Not whether you can get away with it, not whether anybody will buy it, not whether you can make money on it. It’s really like, is there enough or more to say that would justify people risking seeing their favourite characters again?”
Sex and the City enjoyed a critically acclaimed six-year run on TV from 1998 to 2004. But its two big-screen outings in 2008 and 2010, both directed by King, were less well-received. The second installment in particular was damned by especially negative reviews, including a one-star pan in the Guardian.
Until recently, Parker’s co-stars appeared to be split on whether a third installment would be a good idea, with Kristin Davis (Charlotte) and Kim Cattrall (Samantha) open to the possibility and Cynthia Nixon less keen to resurrect the role of Miranda. But earlier this week Nixon told reporters: “If Michael Patrick King is writing the sequel, and Sarah Jessica Parker is starring in it, sure!” (Source)
The CBS comedy, Bad Teacher is heading to TV screens in April. CBS announced that the comedy, based on the big screen film (which starred Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake), will premiere on Thursday, April 24 at 9: 30 PM ET/ PT.
The television version stars Ari Graynor as an ex-trophy wife, who pretends to be a teacher in the hopes of landing a man after her cash cow ditches her. Sara Gilbert, Ryan Hansen, David Alan Grier, Kristin Davis and Sara Rodier also star in the series. (Source)
Kristin Davis has suggested that a third Sex and the City movie could be produced. The HBO television series spawned an initial feature film in 2008, followed by Sex and the City 2 in 2010.
Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon told Digital Spy earlier this year that another film is entirely down to writer-director Michael Patrick King, but Davis has appeared more optimistic in a new interview.
“I don’t think [a third film] is a pipe dream, there is discussion,” Davis told Haute Living. “People talk about it amongst the people who are the players, but I don’t know if it will come together. It would be very exciting if it did.”
She added: “I’m going to have a little talk with Cynthia the next time I see her!”
